How to Apply
1. Go to the WBBPE website: https://wbbpe.wb.gov.in
2. Click the link "PRIMARY TEACHER RECRUITMENT 2025"
3. Then click "CATEGORY CORRECTION"
4. Update or modify your category and clearly mention your OBC class (for OBC candidates)
5. Complete this between 14.10.2026 and 31.10.2026 (11:59 p.m.)
Background
The Backward Classes Welfare (BCW) Department, Government of West Bengal issued Notification No. 944-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18 May 2026, withdrawing all previous notifications on OBC reservation made in 2025.
Notification No. 945-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18 May 2026 notifies the State List of OBCs comprising 66 classes for 7% reservation in services and posts under the Government of West Bengal.
This follows the judgement of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta dated 22.05.2024.
Good to know before you apply
Original OBC certificate required Candidates claiming OBC reservation must produce a valid original OBC Certificate, issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format, at the time of counselling/admission and document verification. Failure to produce it will result in cancellation of the claimed reservation benefit, and the candidature will be considered strictly under the applicable rules of the Board and the concerned authority.
No changes after the portal closes No request for further declaration, modification or inclusion of OBC class will be entertained after the portal closes, as the edit option is available only until then. Complete the process well before the last date.
