| Minimum qualification | The essential qualification is the minimum mandatory one. If eligible applications are very large, CPRI may limit the number of candidates called for Document Verification / Skill Test / Trade Test. |
| PwBD | Only persons with at least 40% of a specified disability, certified by a competent medical authority, are eligible for reservation. Conditions marked 'likely to improve' (temporary disability) are not eligible; 'progressive', 'non-progressive' and 'not likely to improve' are eligible (DEPwD OM No. 18-25/2024-Policy dated 17.12.2025). |
| OBC (NCL) | Latest valid OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate from the competent authority is required. Without it the candidature is treated as Unreserved (UR). |
| EWS | Latest valid EWS certificate in the prescribed format as per DoPT OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt(Res) dated 31.01.2019 and later instructions |
| Dual qualifications | Candidates with dual qualifications / specialisations must prove at Document Verification, Trade / Skill Test and at recruitment that their major specialisation meets the post's eligibility |
Selection process
Selection stages differ by post. The Computer Based Test (CBT) schedule, venue and timing will be given in the Admit Card / Call Letter. CPRI's decision on eligibility, selection mode and cut-off marks is final.
Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Electrical / Civil)
Selection is based on the GATE score. Ties in the GATE score are resolved by placing the older candidate higher (by date of birth).
Level 7Engineering Assistant (Electrical / Mechanical) and Scientific Assistant
Selection is based on the Computer Based Test (CBT) and a job-specific practical skill test.
Level 6Assistant Gr. II
Selection is based on performance in the Computer Based Test (CBT).
Level 4Technician Gr.1 (Electrical / Mechanical)
Selection is based on performance in the CBT. Candidates must also qualify in a Trade Test.
Level 2Technical Attendant Gr.1
Selection is based on performance in the Computer Based Test (CBT).
Level 1Multi-Tasking Staff Gr.1 (Watch & Ward Duties)
Selection is based on performance in the CBT and a Trade / Proficiency Test.
Level 1Document Verification
Candidates must produce original documents for verification at Document Verification or any later stage as required by CPRI.
Application fee
Applications without the prescribed fee are rejected. Bank transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate. Registered applications cannot be withdrawn, and the fee is non-refundable and cannot be held for any other examination. If CPRI cancels the recruitment, only the application fee is refunded.

Scanned documents must be clear and not hazy or blurred. Failure to upload the relevant documents makes the application invalid. Applicants for more than one post must submit separate applications with separate fees and documents for each post.
Written test centres
Computer Based Test centres. CPRI tries to allot the preferred centre but may allot any other centre or city. No request for change of centre is entertained.
